In the centre of La Fouly, with the Glacier de l'A Neuve hanging above the village. Restaurant, shop and post bus a few steps away — the first proper resupply since Courmayeur.

The place

In the centre of La Fouly, with the Glacier de l'A Neuve hanging in the gap above the village and the Aiguille d'Argentière behind it. A proper village inn: restaurant downstairs, rooms and dormitory upstairs, and the shop and post bus stop a minute away.

This is the first real resupply since Courmayeur, so use it. Swiss prices come as a jolt after Italy, and many small places here prefer cash — francs, not euros, though euros are often taken at a rate you will not enjoy. Draw money before you leave the village if you are heading for the smaller gîtes ahead. The walk out next morning is downhill through some of the prettiest villages on the Tour.
