In La Fouly at 1634 m, under the north face of the Mont Dolent — the peak that carries the three-country border and is, in a sense, the reason the Tour goes round the way it does. The chalet is a straightforward Swiss village address: rooms, a dining room, and a village that goes quiet at nine.
La Fouly is where the Tour changes gear. Two hard cols are behind you, the Swiss half is gentler, and for the first time since Courmayeur there is a shop, a post bus and a functioning bank card reader. It is a good place to reset: wash something, eat something that isn't half board, and look at the Glacier de l'A Neuve hanging above the village.
