The place
Tucked into the Miage combe at 1564 m, under the glacier that named the valley, this is the quietest bed on the western side of the Tour. It sits off the main path — you get there on the Truc variant, or by a deliberate detour — and that is the whole point. Chalets, a stream, a wall of moraine, and very few people.
It books itself rather than through the Tour du Mont-Blanc portal, so it will not appear in the planner's live availability; phone or email well ahead and you will usually find room when the valley gîtes are long gone. Walkers who use it tend to be the ones who have done the Tour before and are looking for the version of it with fewer boots on the path. In August that is not a small thing.
